The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden becomes Kashmir’s pride with it being named the largest such garden in Asia by the World Book Of Records (London).

Sharing a couplet by poet Amir Khusro, Puri wrote, “Gar firdaus bar-rue zamin ast‘ The picturesque paradise of tulips in Srinagar enters the World Book of Records as being Asia’s largest! 1.5 million tulip bulbs showcasing an astonishing collection of 68 distinct tulip varieties- attracting 100,000 visitors!”

He added the words, “phool aye, patthar gaye,” in Hindi at the end of his post which means “flowers have arrived, stones have left” in English.

A Hindustan Times report states, “In a formal ceremony at the Tulip Garden on Saturday (August 19), floriculture commissioner secretary Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad was honoured with the certification by president and CEO of World Book of Records (London) Santosh Shukla.”

Nestled amidst the picturesque foothills of the Zabarwan mountain range , this accolade recognizes the garden’s status as Asia’s largest tulip heaven , adorned with an awe – inspiring array of 1.5 million tulip bulbs showcasing an astonishing collection of 68 distinct tulip varities.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration annually organises a tulip festival that aims to showcase the range of flowers in the garden as a part of their tourism efforts. It is held during the onset of the spring season every year.
